Brazil

Joao Victor Cabral
I am Brazilian, and studied medicine in my home country. I finished my medical degree in 2017 and almost a year later I started my Ph.D. at the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University (CUNI). Currently, I am doing research in ophthalmology at the Laboratory of the Biology and Pathology of the Eye. I enjoy living in Prague a lot; my hobbies are photography and yoga.
I’m looking forward to being of assistance to anyone who is interested in pursuing a Ph.D. at CUNI or has any questions about life in Prague.
Croatia

Lucija Andjel
I come from Zagreb, Croatia. I completed a Master’s degree in animal genetics and breeding at the Faculty of Agriculture in Zagreb. I had two Erasmus experiences during my studies; one was at CULS in Prague and other at BOKU in Vienna. Here in Prague I am doing a PhD in the evolution of sex chromosomes in vertebrates. I love spending time in the countryside (BC – Before Covid) to recharge my working batteries. My hobbies include yoga, astronomy and Netflix. My irrational dream is to rescue all the dogs in the world and give them a safe home (with me). I am always happy to talk about animals (especially dogs), nature, science, fun facts, space, cartoons, and food.
Germany

Christian Entenmann
Hi guys, I am Chris and I am a fifth-year medical student from Stuttgart, Germany.
I came to Prague to fulfil my dream of becoming a doctor. I have now been living here for approximately five years and have never regretted that decision. Prague is the best city for studying in Europe and there is plenty to do besides medicine.
I personally love to go to the Vltava (Moldau) river in the summer just after finishing a hard exam and rent a paddleboard with some friends and just relax with good music and some beer.
My best advice for anyone coming to Prague is to try to learn a bit of Czech while you are here, as it helps you integrate and Czech people always appreciate it.
Israel

Nicole Landau
My name is Nicole Landau, and I am 24 years old. I am from Haifa, a beautiful city on the coast of Israel.
I’m a student at the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University.
As a high school student I was drawn to scientific subjects and I volunteered as a First Aid Responder with Israel’s National Emergency Service. I believe my hunger for knowledge and determination to turn information into action helped me when applying to Charles University.
After graduating from high school I was recruited to Israel’s Defense Force as a Combat Fitness Instructor and later became an officer.
I love travelling, and thankfully I had the opportunity to do so. Before beginning my studies, I spent 7 months backpacking in South America. It was an amazing experience, and one that I hope to repeat some day. I like wave surfing, scuba diving and literally anything that has to do with the sea... But for now, I’ll settle for the Vltava.
I always knew I wanted to study abroad, to experience other cultures and live at the heart of Europe. After a lot of research, I decided I want to study in the Czech Republic and that Charles University was the best choice for me.
My first year in the Czech Republic was exciting, intense, and satisfying. During this year, I faced many challenges, both personal and study-related. As I overcame them, I felt a lot of personal growth and the ability to conquer even more.
Now, as a second-year student, I can definitely say that I am better acquainted with the beautiful city of Prague and university life at Charles.
South Korea

Sung-Wook Woo
Hi, everyone! My name is Sung-Wook Woo, and I am a freshman majoring in pharmacy in Hradec Králové. When I first came to Charles University from South Korea, I received a lot of help from a senior ambassador. I want to help new students and applicants as the seniors helped me, and I hope to encourage more international students to come to Charles University. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about Charles University or student life here.
about the ambassadors programme
The ambassadors programme at Charles University was founded in 2018 thanks to a team of enthusiastic international students who wanted to share their experience with potential applicants to our degree programmes worldwide. You can find our team of ambassadors at international fairs, various events and meetings, and on social media. All the ambassadors communicate in English as well as in their native languages. Do you have any questions about what it's like to study at Charles University? Feel free to ask them directly: CUAmbassador@cuni.cz!
