about the city
Hradec Králové is home to the Faculty of Pharmacy and to one of our five faculties of medicine. It is a town buzzing with student life, because it also hosts the University of Hradec Králové. The city is just one and a half hours’ drive from Prague, on the banks of the Elbe river in the north east of the Czech Republic. Both in the city and in the surrounding area there are many green areas, parks and water sports facilities.
You will find everything you need within walking distance. Apart from the historical sights of the city centre (including the White Tower and Velké náměstí square), you may also visit the Gallery of Modern Art, the Planetarium, and the Giant Aquarium. Hradec Králové is also popular among music lovers for its Rock for People festival and Hip Hop camp. This city is quieter than the other two Charles University cities and boasts easy access to popular mountain resorts in the Krkonoše and Orlické mountains.
